Summary:
Kondaviti Prashanti (Esha Repa) grew up with little control over her choices. Her parents arranged her marriage to Ampati Omkar Naidu (Tharun Bhaskar), a prominent fishing magnate from Dhawaleshwaram in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Prashanti adapts to her husband’s lifestyle, gradually discovering his true nature. What follows forms the core of the story.
Strengths
Tharun Bhaskar takes on a new role as a lead actor and delivers a convincing performance. His Godavari accent is perfectly suited and adds authenticity to the character.
Esha Repa plays her role with restraint and seriousness, which suits the character. Her scenes with Tharun, especially the intermission, the later scenes, and the climax, are very touching.
Despite his small role, Brahmaji manages to elicit some laughs. The supporting actors also performed admirably. The cinematography gives the film a stunning visual appeal.
Weaknesses
The story is familiar to many Telugu viewers, as the original Malayalam version gained widespread popularity after its release on streaming platforms. Therefore, a fresh take on the story is crucial in this new version. However, “Om Shanti Shanti Shanti” follows the original almost scene by scene, with very minor changes. This diminishes its impact, especially for those who have seen the original.
While some comedic moments during the fight scenes are successful, the overall narrative loses momentum in the second half. The film becomes slow and drawn out, negatively affecting viewer engagement.
The secondary characters could have been explored more effectively, particularly in the emotional moments. Brahmaji, in particular, was underutilized, missing out on the potential for added humor.
